COSTUMES

All costumes will go home with students at the start of Term 4. When picking up your costume/s, please refer to the costume checklist for your childs age group (specific age group info linked below) so that you can be sure you have all items, correct shoes & stockings etc.

We will keep you updated as to when costumes are ready to be picked up from the front desk.

STUDENT CARD

  • When you pick up your costumes, you will receive a student card for your child. It will list your child’s name, their routines and a blank space for your contact number.

  • Please fill this in and attach it to your child’s costume bag.

  • This MUST be brought along with you (pinned on their costume bag), on the concert day.

WHERE DO I GET A COSTUME BAG?

We have some great costume bags available for purchase from the studio for $20 each. These are good quality, zip closed bags with an additional pocket for accessories, shoes, stockings etc. You can also use your own garment/suit bag, please ensure it has a zipper.

ONCE YOU TAKE YOUR COSTUMES HOME

All costumes must be kept in good condition so that they look beautiful onstage!

  • Please make sure you try them on as soon as possible. You are welcome to make any small adjustments (eg. tightening/loosening straps). If there are any major issues with costume fitting, please let us know asap so that we can offer guidance and help where need be, or provide suggestions re: alteration.

  • As soon as you open each costume, please make sure to LABEL THE TAGS INSIDE. This is so important to ensure there is no confusion or lost property backstage.

  • After trying them on, costumes must be hung up & covered in a costume/garment bag. Please do not leave them scrunched in their packets or dance bag.

WHERE DO I GET A COSTUME BAG?

Your child's costume may come with a hairpiece or other accessory. These will NOT be given out until the concert day, when they will be labelled and allocated to each child’s dressing room.

Accessories will be kept backstage after your child performs, and taken back to the studio. If your child is attending photo day, they will be available to collect them that day. If your child is not attending photo day, you can collect your accessories from the front desk in the weeks following the concert.

Please note some costumes may not come with accessories.

HAIR & MAKE UP

Stage makeup is applied because strong stage lights can wash faces out completely. All students must have hair & makeup done when they arrive.

Please note make-up is not compulsory for preschool students. Our younger students can wear a lighter application of makeup, which will counteract the stage lights. However, if you wish to refrain from using makeup that is completely fine. For all other students, please follow the guidelines below.

MAKE UP

  • A foundation base – please make sure to blend foundation to the

  • neck and that it matches your child’s skin tone

  • Blush in a natural tone

  • Eyeshadow in natural tones – browns/pinks

  • Eyeliner - can be black or dark brown

  • Black Mascara

  • Red Lipstick

  • No nail polish or jewellery.

ITEM CHECKLIST

HAIR

Please see the concert routine order in the “Concert Day” section of your age group, which lists each hairstyle required. Check the order for your child’s first routine to see how they should arrive at the venue. If you see your child will require a hair change, please ensure they have all hair items packed. Backstage helpers will help with any hair changes.

Students will require either a low ponytail, or a low bun. These are both with a centre part. Please see the tutorial video below for guidance. Ensure it is tidy and tight, using hairspray/gel to keep it in place. Buns will require a hair net and bun/hair pins (not bobby pins).

  • 1 packet of strong hair elastics to match your child’s hair colour

  • 1 packet of both bun pins & bobby pins to match your child’s hair colour

  • Comb

  • Round hair brush

  • Hairspray

  • 1 packet of thin hair bun nets to match your child’s hair colour (please do not purchase the thick, woven kind)

  • Some students need to arrive with their hair in a bun. Please ensure hair pins and a bun net are used, and pack extras in case hair needs to be fixed backstage

STUDIO REHEARSAL

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
