COSTUMES

All costumes will go home with students in early Term 4. When picking up your costumes, please refer to the costume checklist for your child’s age group (specific age group info linked below) so that you can be sure you have all items, correct shoes & stockings etc.

We will keep you updated as to when costumes are ready to be picked up from the front desk.

STUDENT CARD

  • When you pick up your costumes, you will receive a student card for your child. It will list your child’s name, their routines, and a brief description of each costume

  • Please attach this to your child’s costume bag.

  • This MUST be brought along with you (pinned on their costume bag), on the concert day.

WHERE DO I GET A COSTUME BAG?

We have some great costume bags available for purchase from the studio for $20 each. These are good quality, zip closed bags with an additional pocket for accessories, shoes, stockings etc. You can also use your own garment/suit bag, please ensure it has a zipper.

ONCE YOU TAKE YOUR COSTUMES HOME

All costumes must be kept in good condition so that they look beautiful onstage!

  • Please make sure you try them on as soon as possible. You are welcome to make any small adjustments (eg. tightening/loosening straps). If there are any major issues with costume fitting, please let us know asap so that we can offer guidance and help where need be, or provide suggestions re: alteration.

  • As soon as you open each costume, please make sure to LABEL THE TAGS INSIDE. This is so important to ensure there is no confusion or lost property backstage.

  • After trying them on, costumes must be hung up & covered in a costume/garment bag.

WHAT ABOUT ACCESSORIES?

Your child's costume may come with a hairpiece or other accessory. These will not be given out until the concert day.

Accessories will be kept backstage after your child performs, and taken back to the studio. If your child is attending photo day, they will be available to collect them that day. If your child is not attending photo day, you can collect your accessories from the front desk in the weeks following the concert.

Please note some costumes may not come with accessories.

HAIR & MAKE UP

Stage makeup is applied because strong stage lights can wash faces out completely. Students must have hair & makeup done when they arrive on concert day.

Please note: Make-up is not compulsory for preschool or primary students. Our younger students can wear a lighter application of makeup, which will counteract the stage lights. However, if you wish to refrain from using makeup that is completely fine. For all other students pre junior & above, please follow the guidelines below.

ARRIVAL & END TIMES

HOW WILL IT WORK?

  • Photo sessions will take place in Studio 1

  • Studio 2 will be used for costume changes

  • To keep the photo area quiet & less busy, parents are asked to wait outside. You are welcome to watch through the window, but please be mindful of distraction so that we can make sure children are looking into the camera

  • Staff & student teachers will stay with students throughout their session. Parents of our youngest dancers will be invited in if needed.

  • Once your child has finished their individual photos you are able to leave, you do not need to wait for their group to finish.

SIBLING & SOLO PHOTOS

  • You have the option to get a sibling photo if more than one of your children attend classes at Ignite. Please choose which costume you would like your children to be in for their sibling photo prior to the day, as they will get a photo in ONE costume of your choice (i.e not multiple shoots). Soloist students are also welcome to get a photo in their solo costume.

  • Sibling photos can take place at the end of your chosen costume’s shoot. e.g. if you would like your child to be in their ballet costume, have their sibling/s ready in their costumes at the same time, and you will be able to tack onto the end of that shoot. Similarly, soloist photos can be tacked onto the end of any shoot that works with your child’s photo schedule. Please note this will be dependent on the overall schedule running on time.

  • Alternatively, there will also be a slot for sibling and solo shots from 3:30 - 3:45pm which you can choose to make use of.

  • If you wish to get a sibling/solo photo please let us know prior to the day, so we can keep track of how many will be taking place.

PURCHASING PHOTOS

  • All purchases of prints or images are to be made directly to the photographer. Photos will be available to select & purchase through the online portal here.

  • You will be notified of the secure password once Photo Day images are ready to view.

  • Parents can use the code “ID10” to receive 10% off orders of 3 or more images.

  • Concert stage photos will also available through the photographer portal. These will be available from Fri 21st November with the password IDCTD2025

Having a copy of the concert is a wonderful keepsake for the whole family, and we assure you it will be watched again and again!

The filming company will provide a HD file for you to download at home. This has been included in your concert levy.

You can then choose to save this onto your own usbs, if you wish. The video file will be sent to all families as soon as it becomes available (usually within a month of the concert date).
